Abstract

We find ourselves, in the middle of the 21st century, facing a new revolution that will radically change the way we live, work, and relate to each other. Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, is characterized by the joint of technologies and intelligent systems that give rise to profound changes in production systems and business models of the companies. Concepts such as IoT, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence are increasingly present in our daily lives and in companies, and it is up to them to analyze market changes and seek the best way to adapt their strategies so that they can take advantage of the potential of this great transformation. The banking sector has been able to modify its business model over time, considering market demands, but it must be alert to new threats that may emerge with increasing technological development. There are also growing concerns because, as Industry 4.0 deepens and relates to the work life of individuals, the more uncertain they become about the future of their work and the more they question their real importance within institutions. Considering the fundamental role that banking institutions have played in society and considering that the literature indicates that human capital is the most valuable resource of organizations, the general objective of the study is to understand the perception, current and future, that employees of Banco Ideal, SA holds about technological evolution and the impact that this will have on its functions.
